Throughout its seventy years of existence, the Jabotinsky Institute in Israel has experienced remarkable growth, development, and change. For seven decades, the hub of the Institute has been centered in its historic home of Beit Jabotinsky in Tel Aviv. Yet a major transformation is taking place, bringing in its wake a change of locale and an expansion of unprecedented dimensions. True, the move won’t happen tomorrow or even in the coming months, yet the blueprints have been drawn up and preparations are actively underway.
This milestone of creating a new home for the Jabotinsky Institute was reached thanks to the Ramat Gan Municipality, headed by our colleague Mayor Tzvi Bar, which recently granted a four-and-a-half dunam (13 ½ acre) plot of land to the Institute. The central location is adjacent to Bar Ilan University, near Kiryat Krinitzi and Tel HaShomer.
Upon this site will be erected the “Jabotinsky International Center,” the new, spacious home of the Jabotinsky Institute in Israel, its renowned archives and museum. The complex will include an ample library, study rooms, auditorium, expanded museum halls (where initial exhibits will feature the life and work of Jabotinsky, campaigns of the Etzel, and Betar’s armed resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Holocaust), Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir’s personal archives, and more.
Working within the context of the improved, expanded Jabotinsky Institute will be the new International Headquarters for Combating Anti-Semitism, synchronizing the worldwide struggle, as well as the newly established Department of Communication and National Hasbara.
Mr. Muzi Wertheim, who serves as chairman of Coca Cola Israel as well as a member of the Jabotinsky Institute Board of Directors, is leading the new building’s $15 million development campaign. The Institute’s leadership is actively soliciting funding from friends of the Institute in Israel and primarily the Diaspora.
